Kimi ni Todoke… <3

For some strange reason I tend to write really short blog entries about series I like, and long ones about series that I don’t.

All I wanted to say was… this series is total *heart throb*. I currently have 3 tissues on my table (well, also taking into consideration the fact that I have a cold) after watching the 1st ep. It’s SO CUTE!!! Mamiko as Sawako really hits the spot too. How I’ve missed Mamiko in half-decent roles (which she hasn’t really had in a while… I mean, come on, Queen’s Blade? =_=)!

I don’t tend to do summaries and stuff for series I like because, well, they’re worth watching for yourself. Give it a swing, shoujo-lovers!

I haven’t blogged in a long time, for reasons I don’t think I need to explain.  It’s pretty common sense as to what I’ve been up to considering I’m in my last year of post-secondary studies.

Anyway, anime is still, somehow, on the top of my list of priorities.  Someone should really knock some sense into me.  Nonetheless, no one’s reading this to find out about my boring life.  On to Kampfer.

KREVA says kyun~?

I was rather surprised when I was downloading um… sampling the newest single from one of the jR&B artists I listened to: KREVA’s 赤.

Kimi ni mune kyun~

Kimi ni mune ky... wait...

Kimi ni mune ky... wait...

Excuse the lazy photoshopping XD  Anyway, KREVA’s version is much less annoying, tho a lot more mellow than the original.  And honestly, I love Yu-tan to death, and Marina is always awesome.

Give it a try if you’re bored.

Of Chihara Minori’s Tomorrow’s Chance

The long-anticipated arrival of Minorin’s new single Tomorrow’s Chance has leaked via the intrawebs once again.  Mighty are the denizens of the World Wide Web. Ok enough praising of the great people who have brought us this single before its official release date.  Onto the single itself.

Don’t Say “Lazy”

When K-on! aired, I’m sure a lot of the audience was captured by Akiyama Mio’s performance of the ED: Don’t Say “Lazy”.  Well, I got the single (got as in… VIRTUAL… shipping to Canada, not to mention exchange rates… are terrible)… and no offense, the song just isn’t the same without the ED animation.  Nonetheless, it’s a catchy song, and MIO IS MY WAIFU. <3

K-ON BABY!!! K-on! episode 2 doesn’t disappoint

I wrote a random rambling post earlier about the awesomeness of K-on!.  To my delight, the awesomeness continues onto the second episode.  I won’t be doing actual summaries and reviews on K-on!, simply because I think that people should just watch the episode by themselves (plus, it would be lame if I ruined all the jokes).

The voice-acting continues to impress.  It was ultimate MOE~ when Yui bumped into the man crossing the street, when Mio imagined the worst case scenarios finding a job, or when Ritsu proudly boasted about her bargaining skills.

I doubt I’ll write about K-on! again, but if one is up for some cute humour, mixed w/ MOEness, and an absolutely awesome character (MIO IS MY WAIFU!!!), watch K-on!  The ED is super catchy too… the fact that I’m still watching it after the second episode (I normally skip the OPs and EDs after the first) only goes to show how much I like it. :)

Queen’s Boobs… ERM I mean Queen’s Blade

I tried so hard to resist watching this show.  Why?  Because #1 I knew it was totally borderline hentai. #2 Outrageous fanservice is always paired with an absolutely shitty storyline.  #3 Outrageous fanservice is never, ever, a good thing.  Ikkitousen would be a prime example. =_=  Still, having to study for exams gives me a lot of time to waste, so I downloaded an episode and watched it while eating lunch.  I ended up with a noodle stuck halfway between my throat and nose because I was trying to eat while watching a certain scene.

Anyway… spoilers ahead, please don’t click to continue if you don’t want to be bombarded with boobilicious screencaps (ps I watched the uncensored version, so I apologize for the uncensored boobs), “storyline spoilers” (not that there’s much of a story anyway…), and OtaAgg’s rants.

WARNING: BEFORE YOU PROCEED, I HAVE WARNED YOU THAT THE FOLLOWING PICTURES ARE INTENDED FOR A MORE MATURE AUDIENCE: CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

When I heard about K-on!, and read about it on various anime blog previews, I didn’t think much of it.  I mean, a relatively unknown bunch of seiyuu, doing some show about seemingly dumb girls trying to do something completely potentially meaningless.  Still, there was a lot of hype over this show, so I gave the first episode a try.

I’m in love. XD

Like, ok, it’s not like the show blew me away.  But a super clumsy, ultra-ditzy girl who just screams MOOOEEEEE (spoken the way Akiba Meguru would say it XD) is totally fine with me. XD  Not to mention a hot bass player (I have a thing for bass players, don’t ask why.  Long long long story lol), a hyperactive drummer, and a very ojou-sama-ish character as … a keyboard…ist?

I thought the voice acting was pretty good too!  No one sounded particularly stiff, and I loled at the part where Yui lies about playing the harmonica and apologizes directly afterwards. XD  Another notable moment was when Mio was telling them that they were going off-topic talking about snack and receives a kick in the shin from Ritsu. XD  I don’t really know too much about the leads of the show: Toyosaki Aki as Yui, Satou Satomi as Ritsu, Hikasa Youko as Mio (MIO IS MY WAIFU), and Kotobuki Minako as Tsumugi.  I only know Toyosaki as Yoshino from Minami-ke (who didn’t stand out in my opinion), Satou Satomi as that annoying high-pitched useless girl lead in Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae (I don’t even remember her name…),  and I don’t even know the other two.  The voice acting wasn’t too bad at all though, so I’m relatively impressed.

The OP an ED aren’t bad, being sung by the seiyuu.  Actually, I really like the ED, both the song and the animation.  Hisaka Youko’s singing voice is relatively suited for the rockin’ ED, and the ending was done in the form of a PV, which I found really amusing.  I particularly liked that one part where Mio was looking left and right. XD  ~Please don’t say you are lazy~ Ah it’s stuck. =_=

Sorry, this post was just done on a whim, so no screenies, no summaries, etc.  I really do recommend watching at least the first episode though, I found it rather humourous. ^^

Candy Boy… my wait was… kinda in vain.

Anyone who visits this site will notice that my previous post was about the looooonnnggg wait for the stupid 10-minute episode of Candy Boy.  However, I must say that I’m disappointed with the newest episode.
candyboy1

I personally believe that it’s all of those cute little yuriyuri moments between Kanade and Yukino that makes this show totally worth watching.  Their subtle little “Ah, I want to be with you forever” or “I love you the most, Kana-chan!” etc etc etc that makes me melt inside.  Yuki’s innocent boldness mixed with Kanade’s awkwardness is such a deadly combination.  Yet there wasn’t a single true yuriyuri moment in this newest episode.  The last bit was kind of bittersweet, with Yuki-chan saying that she wanted to be with Kana-chan forever, so she’s going to get a part-time job so she can go to cram school… but that was it.  No real plot, no cute little short story, no random event in their lives.

Saku-chan continues to serve as the poor victim, tho she totally puts herself up to it every time comic relief, and was, once again, pretty GGed.  Poor Shi-chan was GGed again by her stupid, failing sister, and it was just slightly amusing watching her scribble out her name on the whiteboard and bitterly writing over it while sounding totally calm on the phone. XD

Still, this episode pales in comparison to the other ones: where yuriness was abundant, and decorated with a slight dash of humour.  This episode was more like: random humour, with a touch of bitter yuriness. Mmm.  In the end, I think the original ONA was the best. Ahhh… So to wrap up the post, just a screenie from my favourite episode of Candy Boy… and probably favourite yuri episode of all time:
